IN HONOR & MEMORY OF OUR FOUNDER

Brian “Red” Harrison

Early on in the 30 years of creating UFO, Farmer Red invited our local community to enjoy his greenspace for gardening, picking fruit, walking to and from school, walking dogs, and playing in the creek. Farmer Red was a great supporter of neighborhood issues and community decision-making. He spent much of his time engaging with and supporting the local community by patroning businesses, hosting bonfires and garden parties, and saying hello to anyone who walked by.

Since Red’s passing on October 7th, 2022, his family and neighbors have come together to protect his vision for the farm. In the fall of 2023, The Conservation Fund purchased the entirety of the farm to enable final ownership of the property to City of Atlanta as a public park, to be named Red’s Farm Preserve.

About Urban Farm in Ormewood, Inc.

Urban Farm in Ormewood, Inc. is a newly incorporated non-profit organization led by Ormewood Park community members. We are dedicated to stewarding our vibrant urban greenspace and supporting the health and well-being of our local Atlanta community by cultivating a space for wildlife conservation, regenerative gardening, and nature education.

Soon, we will partner with the City of Atlanta as the conservancy group and Friends of the Park representatives to preserve and maintain the space, as well as advocate for the needs of our Ormewood Park community.
